About Hayes House of Music and Owner Jim Hayes
Jim Hayes has opened a new music store in Topeka after working out of his home for about 15 years.
Hayes House of Music opened Aug. 1 at 716 S.W. Gage, then moved to a better location at 3310 SW 6th St. Nov. 1. Jim Hayes does repair work and buys and sells instruments. Most of the inventory is band instruments, but the store does have guitars and drums as well.
Experience:
Hayes went to Selmer and Buffet factories in France in 1974 to learn from their expert craftsmen. He has also visited all the music factories in the United States, giving him a vast amount of repair experience, now over 50 years. He can also build parts from scratch for any hard to find instrument pieces. I addition to his repair skills, Jim stocks more than 4,000 used parts. If you’re looking for something, he probably has it and can fix your musical instrument.
To date, Jimmy has repaired more than 50,000 instrument. His vast experience and excellent craftsmanship are second to none in Topeka and Northeast Kansas.
Hayes previously owned four music stores, but decided to work out of his home in the 1990's. He said he recently decided to open another store to get the instruments out of his house.
Hayes House of Music can finish repairs in 24 hours and has a one-year guarantee on them. He has parts for most instruments and can make metal parts for older instruments when necessary.
